Valkyries Sign Bree Hall to Hardship Contract Amid Injury Struggles

Injuries may be testing the Golden State Valkyries’ depth, but Valhalla keeps finding ways to fight back. With several key players sidelined, the team announced Friday that they’ve signed rookie guard Bree Hall to a seven-day hardship contract. The Golden State Valkyries sign Bree Hall to strengthen their roster. She’ll wear No. 21 and be available for Saturday’s critical home game against the Washington Mystics at Chase Center.

Who is Bree Hall?

Hall isn’t a stranger to Valkyries Nation. She was originally signed by Golden State on June 18, appearing in two games and logging 3 points and 2 rebounds in limited minutes. The 6-foot-1 guard was selected 20th overall by the Indiana Fever in the 2025 WNBA Draft and showcased her potential in the preseason against the Brazilian National Team, scoring 9 points in 16 minutes.

Before the W, Hall built a championship résumé at South Carolina, where she played 147 games under Dawn Staley, averaging 5.8 points per game and helping the Gamecocks capture two NCAA national titles (2022, 2024). The Golden State Valkyries sign Bree Hall hoping her championship experience will contribute to the team.

Why Golden State Needed This Move

The Valkyries (18–18) remain firmly in the playoff hunt but continue to deal with a brutal string of injuries. With All-Star Kayla Thornton lost for the year (knee), Tiffany Hayes sidelined with a recent knee issue, and Carla Leite nursing an ankle injury, the backcourt depth has been razor thin. Adding Hall gives head coach Natalie Nakase another option as Golden State prepares for a must-win stretch. To address this issue, the Golden State Valkyries sign Bree Hall.

What’s Next

Hall could see action right away when the Valkyries host the Mystics on Saturday at Chase Center. With sellouts every night in San Francisco, the energy will be there. Now, it’s about whether Hall and the short-handed Valkyries can rally once again to keep their playoff dreams alive. The move comes at a crucial time, as the Golden State Valkyries sign Bree Hall to aid in their playoff push.
