The Sparks game carries an extra layer of intrigue, as it will be a reunion for Valkyries forward Stephanie Talbot. Talbot, a three-time Olympian representing Australia (2016, 2020, and 2024), previously played for the Sparks. Her journey to the Bay Area is a story of resilience and determination. Talbot joined the Sparks in February 2023, but her season was tragically cut short by an ACL injury. She dedicated herself to recovery and made a triumphant return to the WNBA in 2024. Fans of Golden State Valkyries at Chase Center can’t wait to see her in action.

During her time with the Sparks, Talbot proved to be a valuable asset. Starting in 10 games, she averaged 16.2 minutes and showcased a remarkable assist-to-turnover ratio, a testament to her playmaking abilities. Her contributions earned her a one-year contract extension last August.

However, fate had other plans. In the December 2024 Expansion Draft, the Golden State Valkyries selected Talbot, bringing her talents to the Bay Area and to Chase Center. Raegan Pebley, the Sparks GM, acknowledged Talbot’s impact in a press conference, stating, “Steph brought experience, toughness and playmaking ability to our team, and we thank her for everything she brought to the Sparks. Golden State Valkyries are getting a strong leader, and we wish her the best in the Bay.”

Talbot’s story adds a compelling narrative to this preseason matchup. It’s a story of perseverance, a story of new beginnings, and a story that underscores the excitement surrounding the Golden State Valkyries. This preseason offers fans a chance to witness the birth of a new era in WNBA basketball at Chase Center. They can cheer on their Valkyries and be part of history in the making. The energy is building, the anticipation is palpable, and the Golden State Valkyries at Chase Center are ready to take the court. Get ready for an unforgettable season!
